Cao Bang

Remote far North, seldom visited in the past
Beautiful mountains with scenic overlooks for seasoned trekkers.

Cao Bang offers hiking and exploration to remote lakes, caves, and waterfalls. Because everything is fairly remote, most sites in the area require a full day each to visit. On the up side, few tourists make it this far and you will have rare opportunities to visit unspoiled parks and villages.

You'll want to visit Ban Doc Waterfall, the widest (though not the highest) waterfall in Vietnam, Thang Hen Lakes, and Be Be Lakes National Park.

There are also Hmong, Dai, and other ethnic villages that can be visited if you lack the time to visit the Northwestern provinces of Vietnam where they are more abundant.
